Vegan Diet vs Plant-Based Diet – What’s the Difference?

09-12-19  by  Brian Darby1 Comment

Plant-based versus vegan - what's the difference?I think it’s important not to confuse a plant-based diet with veganism. Veganism is an ethical lifestyle choice but vegan dietary choices can still be unhealthy. Likewise, a plant-based diet is not necessarily healthy or 100% ethical.

The only true ‘diet’ that successfully combines the two, is a 100% whole food plant-based diet which is not only the healthiest diet but is also ethical and compatible with veganism. A win for the environment, the animals, and for human health :-)  Read more . . .

Rheumatoid Arthritis – Reasons Why You Should Avoid Meat and Dairy

09-09-19  by  Brian Darby4 Comments

Meat and dairy promote inflammationThe consumption of meat actively causes inflammation within the body. Processed meat directly raises CRP levels. The last thing a rheumatoid arthritis sufferer needs is more inflammation, our diet should be focused on reducing inflammation and this is what a whole food plant-based diet low in added salt, oil, and sugar will do.

Rheumatoid arthritis sufferers need to be aware that meat and dairy consumption is strongly linked to the development of rheumatoid arthritis and will continue to worsen the disease in those who are already suffering from RA.  Read more . . .

Blending vs Juicing – Which Is More Beneficial?

06-06-19  by  Brian Darby

Blending wins due to its retention of fibre but both can be extremely beneficialI just wanted to write a short post discussing the relative benefits or otherwise of blending (making smoothies) versus juicing. There’s quite a lot of confusion in both the online and printed media concerning this topic. For those who want a quick answer; in my opinion blending is far superior to juicing, although that’s not to say that juicing can’t be extremely beneficial in its own right when done for the correct reasons and with the right ingredients.

Personally I think that blending as far as my body is concerned, is just an extremely efficient way of chewing the food which I’m about to swallow. The more my food is chewed the less work my stomach and my guts have to do to break it down and absorb the nutrients.  Read more . . .

Dangers of Taking Vitamin and Mineral Supplements

15-05-19  by  Brian Darby5 Comments

Use whole plant foods instead of supplements wherever possibleTaking supplements of any kind is not an effective way to treat rheumatoid arthritis or any other chronic disease and in fact, can often be quite dangerous.

Another reason for avoiding the majority of supplements (including most (non-whole) herbal remedies, most (non-whole) ‘superfoods’, and anything claiming to be a miracle cure) is that it diverts attention away from dealing with the real causes of rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic diseases, and from making the diet and lifestyle changes that are necessary to bring about remission/cure.  Read more . . .

What Are the Causes of Rheumatoid Arthritis?

09-03-19  by  Brian Darby1 Comment

The SAD/SUK diet is the elephant in the room!I’m certain (as I can be) that the standard UK diet (SUK) and the standard American diet (SAD) are the main chronic causes of rheumatoid arthritis in the majority of people. However there are a number of known acute causes too such as tooth/gum infection, chlamydia, Lyme disease, Weil’s disease, leaky gut (although this relates to food again and is somewhere in between acute and chronic), various other bacterial and viral infections, and so on.

I’ve discussed the causes of rheumatoid arthritis in more detail before, but in this post I just want to provide a concise summary for those who want to either prevent, treat or reverse this disease.  Read more . . .
