Sulforaphane (especially from broccoli sprouts) can be a very effective additional therapy in the fight against rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, Alzheimer’s, autism and many other chronic diseases with an inflammatory component or oxidative stress component (which is most of them). No, carbohydrates do not cause diabetes. Even pure sugar does not cause diabetes. One of the primary causes of type II diabetes is fat in the form of intramyocellular lipid accumulation within muscle cells and eventually in the pancreas itself.
Genetics play a role but the genes involved can be influenced (epigenetics) by dietary and other lifestyle interventions. Other factors such as obesity, stress, lack of exercise and a damaged gut micro-biome can also contribute to the onset of diabetes. The science and the clinical results prove beyond any doubt at this point that a whole food plant-based diet low in added salt oil and sugar is the best diet to achieve this.
