In this post I want to encourage the owners of those websites which advertise and/or promote a cure for arthritis who subsequently require the payment of a fee (either for an eBook, or for some other means of accessing the ‘cure’), to consider providing their information free of charge.
If the information on those websites is genuinely useful and could help to relieve the suffering caused by RA, then why not share it free of charge? A ‘Donate’ button could be placed on those websites instead, which would allow visitors to show their appreciation voluntarily if they wished, for any genuine benefit or support provided.
I have no objection to a person (professional or amateur) charging for their knowledge, skills or experience in any field relating to general health and fitness. However, when it comes to a specific disease like rheumatoid arthritis where people are suffering and vulnerable, and often desperately seeking relief; it seems rather unkind to charge for first-hand (i.e. a cure or benefit based on a person’s personal experience) information online that could genuinely help relieve their suffering.
Rheumatoid arthritis can be a desperately debilitating disease and if anyone has any potentially helpful information it should be made available free of charge to those who need it. Publishing useful or beneficial information online these days costs nothing, it can be made available to everyone completely free of charge.
A person who has really suffered from RA and then been fortunate enough to find some symptom relief or a partial or full cure (remission), would understand the need to share their findings freely with other arthritis sufferers.
I use Google and other search methods, plus social networking, to research rheumatoid arthritis and related subjects. However, I am often frustrated, for example when I follow a Google page-1 or page-2 search result back to a website which promises a new cure or beneficial treatment for RA, only to find after ten minutes reading through ambiguous generalisations, that the information I seek is available for “The amazingly low price of only £blah! – Buy now and get a free bonus eBook – blah blah blah!“. Too sad for words…
When I first started researching cures and treatments for my RA the Web did not exist (and the Internet was only accessible by certain universities and governments) and I had to obtain all my information from doctors, libraries, universities and book shops. I borrowed and bought hundreds of books and read many research papers, I also spoke with many other arthritis sufferers and dozens of medical professionals over many years (decades actually). The results of all my own research, experience, time and effort will continue to be posted here on my blog for everyone to read and share (see FAQs about my release of copyright), free of charge.
The information I provide is intended to help people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and to encourage them to be optimistic and seek out new solutions to their (our) disease. I sincerely hope my efforts are useful and I hope my free RA prevention diet and other cure related information and insights will be as effective (or even more effective) for others as they have been for me.
Please, if ‘You’ have any useful or potentially beneficial information relating to rheumatoid arthritis – find somewhere to publish it and share it free of charge! You are also welcome to pass on any useful experience or knowledge here on my blog by commenting on relevant posts or articles :-)
