My husband has been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis which has been a shock. The consultant initially thought it was Polymialia rheumatica until she noticed swelling in one knee. None of his joints feel hot/warm to him and the blood test results are 0 negative, do you think there is any possibility that the diagnoses may be incorrect?

Hi Catherine, thanks for your comment.
Sorry for delay in replying, I have only recently returned to my blog after a long period of illness.
I’ve never experienced rheumatoid or other inflammatory arthritis without heat accompanying the inflamed joints. I can only speak from my experience and can’t give medical advice but I would suggest getting a second opinion.
There are hundreds of potential causes for the symptoms which are used to label rheumatoid and other inflammatory arthritis conditions. The diagnosis/label is matched to the symptoms in order to be able to prescribe the appropriate drug therapy, but it has nothing to do with finding or treating the cause of the disease. Symptoms can vary over time; I once saw two doctors within two weeks of each other, one diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis, the other diagnosed repetitive strain injury. I actually had a tooth/gum infection.
I would strongly suggest looking into your husband’s diet, inflammation can often be an indicator of leaky gut or food intolerances. Let me know if you would like more information on this, or have a read through some of my posts.
I understand how you both feel and I understand the shock… I am sure you can get past this if you are both proactive with your husband’s health/diet and work with a knowledgeable doctor who can help control the symptoms while you treat the cause of the illness.
